Fighter On the Move: Deiveson Figueiredo (UFC)

On August 25th, Lincoln, Nebraska played host to a UFC fight card that had promise for an exciting night. As a fan of MMA, the best part of a UFC Fight Night card is the chance to catch a star on the rise; an unknown fighter who has been ripping through the fight circuit, leaving blood, sweat and tears in the eyes of his opponents as they climbed the ranks to get a shot on the big stage. I'm talking about the fighters who are not content on just making it to the UFC but winning the championship belt. In the words of Conor Mcgregor "We're not here to take part, we're here to take over!".

Deiveson Figueiredo

The UFC main card was easy to watch last night as 3 of the 5 main fights ended with knockouts. My fighter to watch comes out of the featherweight division; Fourteenth ranked flyweight Deiveson Figueiredo is a fighter with a 15 win with 0 lose record and he was dominate and impressive last night. What made his victory astonishing to watch was the fact that his win came against a very talented fighter in John Moraga (19 wins - 7 losses) who was on a three fight win streak recently. The undefeated Figueiredo aggressively walked Moraga into a corner and showcased his talents in the grappling game with aggressive takedowns and ground control. The fight lasted till the second round where Figueriedo's aggressive style rewarded him the chance to land heavy body shots on his opponent, which lead to heavy shots to the head and finally a tough liver punch to KO Moraga. He's only fought in the UFC three times, keep an eye out of Figueriedo, we may be seeing the next great UFC Champion perhaps as good a Jose Aldo...
